Size: 4½-5½"

Gray above with white or pale gray underparts, reddish sides. Conspicuous dark gray crest. (Crest may be black in some Texas birds)

Voice: repeated, whistled series of "peter-peter" notes

Range: Eastern half of the United States (from Texas north to Wisconsin)

After breeding season, Tufted Titmice often join groups of other small birds (chiefly chickadees, nuthatches and downy woodpeckers) often visiting winter feeders en masse. We're lucky to have these birds all year round at our feeders. Their visits are very short, but very entertaining.
